Dewey Gottlieb is a prominent leader in mathematics education and currently serves as the President-elect of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, his career spans over three decades of leadership in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Professional Leadership
- NCTM & ASSM: Beyond his role as NCTM President-elect (effective October 2025), he served on the NCTM Board of Directors (2020–2023) and is a past president of the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics (ASSM).
- State Coordination: He provided leadership and support for mathematics education in the Hawaii Department of Education, serving as the Educational Specialist for Mathematics, the NAEP State Coordinator, and the Mathematics Innovation program specialist.
- EdTech Engagement: In June 2025, he joined Desmos Studio as the K-16 Engagement Manager.
